Louisville, Kentucky (August 7, 2014) - Megachurch pastor Kyle Idleman of Southeast Christian Church and City on a Hill Studio are on a mission to "Awaken Love" and reclaim the original vision of what God intended marriage to be through the national theatrical release of THE SONG film and accompanying resources.
"In our culture we are constantly hearing about love, sex, and marriage. These are the subjects of the songs we listen to, the books we read and the movies we watch. But the messages we have been receiving have left our love lives broken and cold," said Idleman. "We want to awaken love in marriages and we look to what God has said about these important areas. After all he is the one who came up with the ideas of love, sex, and marriage; so he's the one who knows what's best. THE SONG film is a great date night movie that will point you to God who has the power to awaken love in your relationship."
An integral part of the highly anticipated romantic drama THE SONG, which opens nationwide September 26, is a line of resources and curriculum based on Song of Solomon. These offerings offer counsel, guidance and inspiration and are perfect for couples wanting to go deeper, as well as for churches to use in a group setting.
The assets include a Small Group Study, a Couples Kit with Six-Week Devotional book/DVDs, a Pastor's Kit with a six-week teaching series, a Devotional and a Participant's Journal workbook. All are a candid exploration of God's plan for marriage. With straightforward Bible teaching through the Song of Solomon from pastor and bestselling author Kyle Idleman, THE SONG addresses real-world relationship issues such as dating, romance, intimacy, conflict, restoration and cultivating true commitment.
Idleman believes these resources are unique for exploring the Song of Solomon in a new and contemporary way, going back to the Bible as the original source of guidance for modern day issues surrounding love, sex and marriage. The upcoming film has already garnered strong support from pastors across the country in favor of its rawness and honesty. "All of us have family, friends or work associates who struggle with alcohol, drugs or decaying marriages. THE SONG, using the book of Ecclesiastes as the foundation, addresses these situations head on. It is a powerful 21st century portrayal of a wasted life that can be turned around. This is not a typical Christian film. It is a raw portrayal of tragic choices, while at the same time offering hope of redemption." -Michael Catt, Sherwood Baptist Church
"As a pastor I liked THE SONG because it doesn't hide the real life struggles and temptations that individuals and couples face. You and your church should go see it because you will be captivated by a story that compellingly reveals the meaninglessness of trying to find true joy in money, sex, popularity or success. Instead, Solomon's story again challenges us to find joy in the mercy of our Creator and the 'wife of your youth' (Prov 5:18)." -Dr. Jon Atkins, Fairview Church
Additionally, a full-length soundtrack will be made available on September 16, featuring the sounds of "American Roots" music and the vocal talents of Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris and Alan Powell (Jed, from THE SONG, also a member of the band Anthem Lights.) Rock icon Roger McGuinn is recording a special version of the classic "Turn, Turn, Turn," which is exclusive to THE SONG soundtrack.
